What is a high power wound inductor?

A wound inductor, also called wire wound inductor, is a basic electronic magnetic component, composed of a large number of spiral coils that are interconnected around an iron core. When current flows through the inductor, it generates a strong magnetic field, converting electrical energy into magnetic energy.

According to Faraday’s Law and Lenz's Law, if the current through the inductor changes, the inductor generates an induced voltage that opposes the rate of change of current, effectively smoothing the current and filtering noise.

A high-power inductor is designed to handle large electrical currents without magnetic saturation or excessive heat generation. Widely used in high-current DC-DC converters (like EV charging stations & onboard chargers),  photovoltaic inverters, and heavy-duty power supply filtering (like industrial control equipment, industrial automation, variable frequency power supplies, UPS systems, communication power supplies).
